Punching shear provisions for the new MC 2010
In April and May 2010, the first complete draft of fib Model Code 2010 was published in Bulletins 55 and 56 of fib (International Federation for Structural Concrete). The provisions for shear, torsion and punching shear were established by Task Group 4.2 with contributions of Viktor Sigrist (convenor, Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg, Germany), Evan Bentz (University of Toronto, Canada), Miguel Fernández Ruiz (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland), Stephen Foster (University of New South Wales, Australia) and Aurelio Muttoni (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland). The provisions for punching shear design were established on the basis of the Critical Shear Crack Theory (CSCT), a theory whose first fundamentals were established by Aurelio Muttoni in the 1980's. In addition to the contributions of the members of Task Group 4.2 of fib, other researchers at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland) participated actively, mainly Juan Sagaseta Albajar (formerly post-doctoral fellow at EPFL) and Luca Tassinari (PhD. candidate at EPFL). The theoretical ground of the Model Code draft with respect to punchinbg shear design can be consulted in publications of the authors. Some relevant related works are:
